SweetSexySavage- Kehlani (Review)
The debut album from Bay Area vocalist Kehlani unveils a captivating balance of both struggles and triumphs.
The album details the singer's trials and tribulations of life, love, and ultimately, the road to finding herself.
In an industry where most artists are focused on hits, Kehlani works "Undercover" (this pun may have worked, or it may have failed miserably) to find truth within her most vulnerable moments.
Sonically, the album is very reminiscent of 90s R&B. (Brandy comes to mind on "Distraction", as well as Timbaland/Aaliyah on "Too Much")
If you enjoy that era then this album may be for you.
SweetSexySavage (SSS), showcases that even though the singer was broken at a time in her life, she is determined to continue the journey towards self-love, happiness, and recovery. Fans not only receive quality music, but they also receive the opportunity to bond and grow with who Kehlani is as a person.
"Piece of Mind", "Advice", and "Do You Dirty" were strong standouts and should serve as reference points for those seeking a solid introduction into Kehlani's sound.
Strong Recommendation: "Too Much"
The album is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, & etc.
